Dark Web
The dark web is a part of the internet that requires specialized software to access. This includes the Tor browser and the Invisible Internet Project (I2P) network. Tor protects your computer’s IP address when browsing websites and I2P creates a virtual private network (VPN) to allow you to surf the internet without revealing your location.
While a number of legitimate uses exist for the dark
web, it is also used by criminals to sell illicit goods and
services. These range from recreational and prescription drugs to stolen
personal information, weapons, and hacking services. Some sites even offer paid
assassinations. Many of these illegal marketplaces accept Bitcoin and other
cryptocurrencies.
